HeFRA LAUNCHES ASSESSMENT STANDARDS FOR INSPECTING
SPECIALTY CLINICS AND RECOGNIZE SPECIALISTS INVOLVED
IN THE REVIEW PROCESS

The Registrar and Management of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) are proud to announce the successful completion of the review of the Assessment Standards for Specialty Clinics done in collaboration with Specialists from the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons following the directives of the former Board of the Agency. The reviewed standards were launched together with recognizing the work of the Specialists with Citation on 13th June 2021 at the Alisa Hotel in Accra at 3:00 pm.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Kwabena Boadu Oku-Afari represented the Minister for Health as the Special Guest of Honour to launch the document. He congratulated HeFRA and the Specialists expressing his deep satisfaction for the successful completion of the document and the hope that it will improve the quality of specialist care in Ghana.

He admonished the College to adopt innovative ways to expand its facilities and programmes to train more specialists noting the limited number of specialists and the need to augment their number to meet the national demand for specialized care.

As an Agency, we recognize that when state institutions collaborate and harmonize their functions it fosters friendship and improves the quality of service delivery. In all, the 52 standards that have been developed will provide a comprehensive cross-cutting reference document to meet the desired objective of assessing all identified health care facility types thus improving the quality of health care delivery.

We would like to acknowledge the Specialists and various institutions including USAID, Health Systems Strengthening Accelerator, UNICEF, and PharmAccess for their continuous support.

Thank you.
