HeFRA is mandated under the Health Institutions and Facilities Act, 2011 (Act 829) to licence and monitor the following facilities as outlined in the first schedule of the Act.
- Medical and Dental (Clinics and hospitals)
- Eye care clinics
- Convalescent and nursing homes
- Geriatric homes
- Maternity homes
- Occupational therapy clinics
- Physiotherapy clinics
- Dental technology laboratories
- Clinical and biomedical laboratories
- Medical assistant clinics
- Diagnostic – imaging technology clinics
- Pharmacies and chemical shops
- Osteopathy clinics
- Prosthetics and orthotics clinics
And any other facilities that the Minister of health deems necessary to be licensed
