Matthew has been the Acting Registrar of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency since March 2017. He has lived in the UK for a considerable number of years where he worked in various capacities in the health sector, in education and in local government.
He served as Director of Quality and Compliance for Proactive Nursing Services Limited (UK). He worked as lecturer at the Coulsdon Sixth Form College. From May 2006 and for three consecutive electoral terms of four years each he was an elected Member of Croydon Council serving on several local government and London-wide committees. He was the first chair of the General Purpose and Audit Committee of the London Borough of Croydon Council. He also served as Shadow Cabinet Member and a substantive Deputy Cabinet Member with experiences in health commissioning, the CQC and the NHS. He was an Executive Member of the Patients’ Participation Group at his local GP practice of a membership of over 3,000.
He is currently a member in good standing of the Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana and an aspiring member of the American Institute of Healthcare Quality (AIHQ). He is a member of the National Quality Strategy Committee. He has attended international conferences including recently the Joint Learning Network workshop in Seoul, South Korea and the First Africa Health Forum in Durban, South Africa.
He was a product of the University of Ghana, Legon and holds a Masters Degree from King’s College, London. He speaks Spanish and has been an Assistant Spanish Examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organisation as well as a Local Education Authority School Governor.
He enjoys good debates, travelling, keeping fit and DIY. He is married with two children.
